Half Day Tour
About This Tour
Short on time but want to walk in the footsteps of the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division on D-Day? This half day Canadian battlefield tour departs from Bayeux and takes in the essential story of the Juno Beach landings, the beaches, the town, and the cemetery, in a single, focused afternoon.
Detailed Itinerary
Departure from Bayeux
The tour begins in Bayeux, with a short drive to the coast at Juno Beach, the sector stormed by Canadian forces on the morning of D-Day.
Bernières-sur-Mer, Nan White
See the landing site of the Queen's Own Rifles, followed inland by the Régiment de la Chaudière, and hear the story of how this small seaside town was captured street by street.
Courseulles-sur-Mer, Nan Green
Visit the harbour town where the Regina Rifles fought through stubborn German resistance to secure the beach, the town, and the vital port, whose railway line ran all the way to Caen.
Graye-sur-Mer, Mike Red
A short stop at the open dune beach west of the port, where the Canadian Scottish and Royal Winnipeg Rifles came ashore against heavy defences protecting the harbour approach.
Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery
On the return journey to Bayeux, visit the final resting place of 2,048 Canadian servicemen. Overlooking the beach they fought to take, it's a quiet and moving stop to close out the tour.
