About This Tour
Do you have a relative who served in Normandy? We specialise in tracing family members through the battlefields, using regimental histories, unit war diaries, and local archive records. Our guides will research your family's story before the tour and create a deeply personal itinerary, visiting the exact locations where your ancestor fought, rested, was wounded, or fell. These tours are as much about remembrance as they are about history. We work with all Allied nationalities: American, British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Polish, French, and more. Tours can extend beyond Normandy to follow the campaign into Belgium, the Netherlands, or Germany.
Detailed Itinerary
Built around pre-tour archival research into your family member's service record, this personalised tour traces their story through the Normandy battlefields, visiting the exact locations where they landed, fought, and in some cases fell.
Research Briefing
Your guide presents the pre-tour research at the meeting point: unit war diaries, regimental histories, photographs, and if applicable, burial or service records relating to your family member. This briefing sets the context for everything that follows.
Landing or Arrival Site
The journey begins at the beach, drop zone, or assembly area where your relative entered France, followed with the aid of maps showing their unit's exact dispositions on that first day.
Battlefield Sites
Your guide reconstructs the actions in which your family member's unit was involved, visiting the ground where they fought, rested, advanced, or were held. The itinerary is built around the specific history of their service.
Cemetery or Memorial
If your relative is buried or commemorated in Normandy, the tour includes a personal visit to the grave or memorial panel for a private moment of remembrance.
Summary and Handover
At the end of the day, your guide provides a printed summary of the research and the day's findings, maps, photographs, and records, for you to keep as a permanent record.
